The Annual Battle of Franklin Illumination Ceremony will take place at Carnton Plantation on Saturday, November 30 at 4:30 p.m. Some 10,000 luminaries will be on display to commemorate the approximately 10,000 casualties inflicted during the battle.

The event is one of the most moving ceremonies performed at Carnton. It is difficult to explain the toll of the battle with words alone, and seeing the 10,000 luminaries glowing at dusk really helps people better understand what happened in Franklin on that November afternoon and evening in 1864.

The brief ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will last approximately 15 minutes. Carnton Plantation and The Carter House will be extending their usual hours so that guests can enjoy brief walk through tours until 7 p.m. After the ceremony, there will be no admission for the walk through tours but donations will gladly be accepted.
